Friday Freebies – June 4th

This week, I have a treat that would make Homer Simpson happy, plus a few things for kids to do and ways to beat the heat.

It’s National Donut Day! There’s still time to get your free donut.

From my inbox: The fine folks at EZ’s Brick Oven & Grill are bringing back their EZ Readers program. Kindergarteners through fifth graders get free prizes for every five books they read from June 7th through August 6th. The prizes include a free kids pizza, shakes and toys. Go to any EZ’s Brick Oven & Grill to get your official book log. Parents, you might want to rack up a few rewards of your own by joining the Rewards Club.

Speaking of reading… I’m hearing some good news for Twi-hards: Stephanie Meyer’s latest book, “The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner,” will be available for free download beginning June 7th here.

If reading doesn’t keep the kids busy enough, check out these cool craft ideas.

Taking on a painting project this summer? Get a preview of what colors will work with these free paint samples.

People, it’s HOT outside! Check out these lemonade recipes to beat the heat!

If you’re not good in the kitchen, print this coupon from Taco Bell and get a free Limeade sparkler.

That’s it for this week. If you want to share a tip, send an email to nperez@ksat.com with “Friday Freebies” in the subject line.
