DWTS Season 10: First Elimination

Shannen.

America, I hope you stand behind your votes. She was hardly the worst dancer on the show. But she’s the first to go (no spoiler warning – if you don’t know that by now, you should not be living under a rock surfing the internet). A recap of the first elimination show follows the jump.

Right off the bat, drama.

The first couple safe: Buzz & Ashly. Really? How is this possible? I’d rather have a root canal than watch him dance again!

The first couple in danger: Pamela & Damian.

And then everything comes to a crawl. We get a recap of the competition from Len.

  • Aiden’s fox trot was an improvement.
  • Jake nailed the steps. He’s one to watch.
  • Shannen was strong. She needs to work on a little bit more finesse.
  • Niecy was fantastic. He said, “Mama, this daddy loves you.”
  • Chad disappointed. Last week, he saw potential. That’s gone down the toilet.
  • Buzz: for an 80-year-old man he was fantastic, but the dancing wasn’t great.
  • Feel sorry for Kate because her nerves are getting the best of her.
  • Pamela gets into character. She had class and elegance and could go a long way.
  • Erin’s movement was fluid. Her posture was good.
  • Evan’s jive was absolutely great.
  • Nicole is an absolutely fantastic dancer. She has huge talent.

Next, an encore from Nicole & Derek. Their jive rocked just as much the second time as the first time.

The pros take the stage to do a dance choreographed by Michael Jackson’s team (Travis Payne & Stacy Walker). I was a little disappointed. The ladies seemed out of sync.

Adam Carolla named his favorite moments from Monday’s show.

  • Buzz wore six astronaut shirts. Adam says, “We get it. You’ve been to the moon. I’ve been to Dollywood. You don’t see me wearing that t-shirt around.”
  • Chad: “If you’re happy, someone should tell you’re face.”
  • Pam: “Obviously the hydrogen peroxide dunk tank has driven them both insane.”
  • Edyta’s flying elbow: “Edyta, you detached Jeff Ross’s cornea, and now you’ve crushed Aiden’s orbital socket. Is there a theme here? Perhaps some difficulty with daddy?”
  • Bruno’s reminiscing his Elton John video: “You two must have bagged every chick in town.” Then, Adam learns that’s not really their flavor.

More results.

The next couples safe: Aiden & Edyta and Niecy & Louis.

The Beach Boys with John Stamos performed a medley of their hits with the pros dancing.

The Len Commandments of Ballroom:

  1. Thou Shalt Not Kill…Time
  2. Thou Shalt Not Take The Judges Name In Vain
  3. Thou Shalt Not Steal…Dance Moves
  4. Thou Shalt Not Interrupt Me
  5. Thou Shalt Not Do Lifts
  6. Thou Shalt Have Rhinestones
  7. Thou May Honor The Judges

Len said this cast is doing a really good job, but they want to see more. Challenge for next week: each dance should show a story – without gimmicks and tricks.

Another couple back next week: Evan & Anna.

Two more couples safe: Jake & Chelsie and Nicole & Derek.

The Macy’s Stars of Dance performs a tribute to the victims of the Haiti earthquake. Very moving taped piece showing the connection the Haitian dancers have to their homeland. See their awesome performance here.

We see Brooke’s challenge of handling her life at home with kids and doing the show.

The next couples safe: Erin & Maks and Chad & Cheryl.

Three couples left. The next couple through to the next week of competition: Kate & Tony (side note: Kate looks defeated. She should stop making that face.).

That leaves Shannen & Mark and Pamela & Damian.

Cue dramatic music: Shannen & Mark. Oh, had no idea Mark was hurt in rehearsal and can’t dance for six weeks! Shannen would have danced with Mark’s dad. Remember him? He danced with Cloris Leachman!

Pamela gets to shake her money makers next week. Let’s see if Kate and Buzz can step it up next week. Otherwise, they could be in jeopardy of going home.
