Feline Fiesta

Last summer my fiance and I took in nearly a dozen Kittens and found good homes for them. We got the kittens from the nearly two dozen feral cats roaming our neighborhood. This year there are not as many cats running around the hood but there are still a few new kittens. We found a home for one and have two more that need a home.

If you think these kittens are cute, there are dozens more at ACS that need a good home. This month Animal Care Services  is offering two key programs through out the month of June. As apart of Adopt a Cat Month in an effort to lower the number of animals killed each year. They are offering half price adoption fees and Spay Neuter clinics.

“The hope is to increase adoptions because kitten season is in full swing and the shelter has seen a large number of litters brought to the shelter; in many cases with their mothers. It is the aim of Animal Care Services to find permanent homes for all of the adoptable animals in the shelter …” (from ACS Press Release)

The ACS Adoptions Center is open Tuesday through Friday 11am-6:30 pm and Saturdays 11am to 4:30pm.

It’s all in honor of “adopt-a-cat” month which is traditionally held the first month of summer every year. Local residents will be able to get their cats or kittens sterilized, vaccinated and micro-chipped for a special rate of just $10. Clinic dates are as follows:

June 9th – Female cat clinic (Ladies only, please!)

June 15th Female cat clinic (Ladies only, please!)

June 16th- Tom cat clinic (This one’s for the boys!)

June 23rd Female cat clinic (Ladies only, please!)

June 24th- Tom cat clinic (This one’s for the boys!)

June 30th Female cat clinic (Ladies only, please!)

Ferals and owned cats will be accepted but the clinic is limited to three animals per household in order to offer these services to as many residents as possible. Space is limited and some restrictions apply so residents should call ACS at 207-6652 to reserve a spot today!
