DWTS: Latin Night
It’s the halfway point on Dancing With The Stars. Last night, they were given one of two dances: rumba or samba. You won’t find any pictures of last night’s performance after the jump (ABC is making it a challenge to grab those). However, you will find my witty recap after the jump! If you missed the show last night, you can catch it here.
Mario & Karina Smirnoff
They were the first couple to shimmy through the samba. Before they danced, Mario and Karina met with Stevie Wonder. After that, Mario said, “I got my swagger back.” No lie. Their dance was fun to watch. It was much better than the last few weeks. I was a little worried about Karina’s outfit. I thought she was one hip shake away from a wardrobe malfunction. The judges liked it. SCORE: 27 (their best this season)
Priscilla Presley & Louis Van Amstel
The cougar and her catch did a rumba. She had a couple of missteps. But grandma can do the splitz! That wasn’t enough to impress Len. He said he was disappointed. SCORE: 21
Marissa Jaret Winokur & Tony Dovolani
She was the first star to samba. Before her hips shook in her sparkly purple outfit, Marissa promised to put the sass back into samba. She delivered! It was fun – and her best dance yet! This is for Julie – did you see the faces Marissa made? Weird. Anywho…Bruno said it had more shakes than a cocktail bar (huh?). SCORE: 24
Christian de la Fuente & Cheryl Burke
They did a rumba. This week, Christian wore a shirt, though it was mostly open (unlike his shirtless paso doble last week). Back to their dance. It was nice, but I was expecting more from a guy who wants to be a contender. SCORE: 23
Marlee Matlin & Fabian Sanchez
They did a samba. It was not Marlee’s best dance. She lost a few steps. At times, it looked like Fabian was leading her around as if she did not know where she was or what she was doing (I know, she can’t hear the music, so it was hard for her). Still, Bruno thought it was hot and sexy. SCORE: 22
Kristi Yamaguchi & Mark Ballas
They did the rumba. Mark described it as a “vertical expression of horizontal desire.” Interesting. And creepy. This is a family show! It was beautiful. It was sexy. They moved as one across the floor. Bruno said it was “yummylicious” (I don’t have a Bruno to English dictionary, but judging by the score, I think that means he liked it – a lot). SCORE: 29
Shannon Elizabeth & Derek Hough
They did the samba. These two have such chemistry! It’s too bad their dance wasn’t better. It wasn’t very bouncy like the others. It wasn’t awful. Bruno said some of the moves were too hard for Shannon. SCORE: 23
Jason Taylor & Edyta Sliwinska
They did a rumba. It was sexy. It was beautiful. They looked very comfortable togther. Len did not like Edyta’s tricks (you know how she leans forward, then her leg comes up, just missing her partner’s face, and she holds it for a few seconds). However, I was amazed! SCORE: 27
My prediction: Since just eight points separate the worst from first, it’s a tough call. Priscilla has had two rough weeks (she was in the bottom two last week). I’ll pick her, though I think Marlee’s also in danger. If you’ve recently suffered a break-up, watch the results show tonight to see James Blunt perform (and provide a sappy song for you).
If you want to see the stars shimmy, shake, glide or otherwise move across the stage, go here and enter our contest. You could win tickets to the show! If you win, please consider taking me with you. I’m LOTS of fun!

oooh .. I hate James Blunt. Yuck. Good thing I DVR — I can fast forward. I didn’t notice Marissa’s crazy faces, but I did notice that Mark didn’t make them as much as he usually does. Maybe he only does the guppy during fast songs. I think Priscilla is going home.
