DWTS: The Finale

Now that we don’t have Cody & Julianne to kick around, have some of you lost interest? If so, you have just one night to get on a new bandwagon! There are Lance & Lacey – the rebels who like to throw the rules right out the window. You could cheer on Warren & Kym – they will make you smile. Oh, there’s that Brooke. The hot mom. Who can dance. That’s not bitterness, it’s envy.

Which one will win this dance off and take home that mirror ball trophy? And which pint-sized couple wins the junior championship? Get your recap right here.

First, they’re all dressed like pineapples. Well, they’re all in bright yellow – pineapple enough for me. They take turns choosing their best dances of the season and we get to see them all over again.

  • Brooke & Derek chose the quick step for their ballroom dance. They chose the paso doble for their latin dance. I didn’t realize Brooke is the only one to have achieved a perfect score.
  • Lance & Lacey’s favorite ballroom dance was the tango. They’re best latin dance was their mambo. Lacey calls Lance the most improved dancer of the season.
  • Warren & Kym’s favorite ballroom dance was the Viennese waltz. They chose the paso doble as their favorite latin dance. Warren has the most second place finishes of any contestant.

The winner of the junior champion contest: Craig & Samantha.

They returned to do their jive. They’re really good!

Now, it’s on to the “Samba Smackdown!”

Some stats about season seven:

  • 400,000 rhinestones were used
  • 2,644.25 hours of training
  • 4 ambulance rides

The three couples are all performing a samba to the same music at the same time, and they each do a solo. It’s up to the couples to make theirs memorable and different.

  • Brooke & Derek: Did Brooke forget the beginning steps? Derek was spinning around and she had her hand out for him. After that, it was good.
  • Lance & Lacey: WOW! This was so fast and good! How can Warren top it?
  • Warren & Kym: Warren started off looking so serious I kept waiting for him to start to smile. And just when he would, it was like he was really concentrating on the steps.

The group part of the dance ended with one big huggy spin, with the ladies feet off the floor and they all collapsed at the end. Well done!

Len says they were all better than when they danced the samba during the show. He thought Warren had more content, but Warren’s feet concerned him. He loved Lance’s energy and it had more content. He thinks Lance needs to work on the finesse of every dance. He says Brooke is still the one to beat.

Bruno says Brooke is a dazzling, sexy, sizzler of a dance. He says every guy would like to drive that model. He says Lance is so tight and clean and his confidence has come up. He says Warren is irresistible. He says his personality makes up for the lack of technique.

Carrie Ann says Lance gets better and better each week. She says Warren is the most improved. She says Brooke brings the technical nuance to the dance. She says Brooke’s lines were a little awkward.

SCORES:

  • Brooke & Derek: 28
  • Lance & Lacey: 26
  • Warren & Kym: 25

Next up, FREESTYLE!

Brooke & Derek

As soon as I heard that familiar “Grease” song, I knew this dance would be fun. Brooke stripped down to some sparkly pink pants and a barely there top (not made for all the bouncing around) about halfway through the dance. Then, they did some crazy lifts. Really good! Standing ovation from the crowd.

Bruno says Brooke is the one we all want. He says she ended up in positions he has only seen in the kama sutra. He called it one of the best freestyles he’s ever seen. Carrie Ann says they brought it. Len says he got all hot under the collar. He says it was the best freestyle he’s ever seen. Hmm…wonder what scores they’ll get after reviews like that?

SCORE: 30

TOTAL SCORE: 58

Lance & Lacey

They had me with the music. I LOVE RUN DMC! So they’re dance was tricky, like the song (get it?). They did fun tricks in their hip hop dance. I liked Lance’s little dance “shout out” to Joey. Parts of it seemed like a bunch of moves thrown in. It’s hard to compare it to Brooke’s. I says it’s good enough.

Carrie Ann says she loved the beginning and the end. She says there was one section that threw it off. Len says he likes hip hop. He says it was fun. He likes that they did a little bit of cha cha in it. Bruno says it was youthful, vibrant and exciting. He says Lance always makes you smile.

SCORE: 27

TOTAL SCORE: 53

Warren & Kym

They’re certainly rolling on the river in this one. I did wonder if they were supposed to do some sort of lift at the beginning before this got crazy fast. They shed their costumes for sparkly ones, which I guess helped them pull of some of the most difficult lifts I have ever seen on this show! Kim’s dress was dropping sequins like crazy! Fun, fast and incredibly coordinated!

Len says Warren lacks technique but he is a great entertainer. Bruno says with Warren, all resistance is futile. Carrie Ann says it was her favorite routine. She says Warren gave away with his face that he made a mistake.

SCORE: 28

TOTAL SCORE: 53

Tomorrow night, it’s the last dance for two of the couples. They’ll all do one more dance before they get to the trophy business. Jeffery Ross (remember him from the first round?) will roast the finalists (he’s better at this than dancing). And it’s not all dancing! Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys will also perform Tuesday night. Get my recap tomorrow night.
