Monday 1pm Update

Monday has started pretty soggy this morning for San Antonio. The heavy rain has been causing lots of accidents across San Antonio especially at I-35 and Space Center where an 18 wheeler jackknifed.

Now we turn our attention to all the rain we have received. As of 1pm, San Antonio has recieved 1.65 inches of rain. We can expect more as more showers were developing to the southwest of Bexar county moving towards the northeast.

The upper level low is still on track and headed for North Texas. Its is currently located in southeast Colorado. This combined with a weak stationary front near San Angelo, and moist, humid air from the Gulf of Mexico, all are coming together for a heavy rain event. Some areas have experienced 4 inches or more already. 2-4 inches can be expected today with some amounts of 6+ inches possible through Tuesday. The upper low is forecasted to stall tomorrow giving us a better chance for more heavy rain. Of course with the rain this past weekend and whats on going right now, flash flooding is the main threat. We are monitoring the weather conditions in the KSAT-12 Weather Lab.
