What We’re Reading, Part 2

Because there are a few more of us at KSAT who love books, I have a few more entries to the first post. See? We aren’t just TV junkies!

Here’s a look at what some other KSAT readers have their noses in these days.

Author: Daniel J. Levitin

What’s it about? Music and audio on the brain. how it affects psychological, emotional, etc…. uhh stuff.

How did you learn about it? It was a gift. a very well thought out gift as its totally in my realm of interest.

Title: All the King’s Men

Author: Robert Wright Penn

What’s it about? The rise and fall of a southern politician, Willis Stark, whose character is loosely based on Huey “The Kingfish” Long of Lousiana.

How did you learn about it? Time Magazine’s 100 Best Fiction Novels

Larry Ramirez, Sports Anchor

Title: Manhunt

Author: James L. Swanson

What’s it about? The 12 day chase for Lincoln’s killer

How did you learn about it? Saw it at the SA airport while traveling. It makes you feel like you’re in the chase for Booth.

Steve Spriester, Anchor

Title: Counselor

Author: Ted Sorensen

What is it about? Sorensen was one of JFK’s closest advisers, wrote the response to the Soviets with Robert Kennedy during the Cuban Missile Crisis, helped write “Profiles in Courage,” and was also one of his main speech writers. He gives a glimpse behind the Kennedy years.

How did you learn about it? I actually saw the book at Borders and have long been fascinated by Sorensen.

WHAT ARE YOU READING?

Title: Night Probe

Author: Clive Cussler

What’s it about? A secret 1914 treaty between the U.S. and Great Britain transfers ownership of Canada to the States. Hi-jinks ensues as hero Dirk Pitt tries to recover the treaty that lies under 150′ of water before the Brits or Canadians can destroy it.

How did you learn about it? I like thrillers. My daughter gave it to me for Father’s day. I’m also reading William Shatner’s autobiography, Up Till Now and Dave Barry’s History of the Millennium (So Far). Waiting in the wings is The Judas Strain by James Rollins and Go Go Girls of the Apocalypse by Victor Gischler.
