DWTS: Top Five
So much for the “showmance!” Shannon & Derek got the ax last week. The remaining couples take on two dances again tonight (one ballroom, one Latin). Oh! And a DWTS first! They’ll get to do lifts (this is usually reserved for the final round). How far can they go? My prediction after the jump…
Cristian de la Fuente & Cheryl Burke
He’s hurt, but the voters wanted to keep him around. It will be interesting to see how these two can pull off the dances, since his left arm is basically not in good shape (he needs surgery). Unless his right arm is super strong, I don’t think they’ll be doing any lifts. That will cost them some points. These two were at the bottom of the leader board last week. As much as I’d like to see them keep going, the judges won’t cut him any slack (remember Marlee Matlin & Heather Mills?). Unless a miracle happens, I think this could be Cristian’s last week.
Mario & Karina Smirnoff
They scored just ahead of Cristian & Cheryl. These two are hot! But it feels like there’s something missing on the dance floor – and I’m not just talking about the material in Karina’s costumes! I don’t know what it is, but I want more from these two. Maybe I’m being a little hard on Mario because of his REAL job (you know, singer/dancer). They should be better than Cristian, likely on par with Marissa & Tony.
Marissa Jaret Winokur & Tony Dovolani
Something has clicked with Marissa. She’s taking the competition seriously! She’s showing improvement each week. She’s not the best technical dancer, but she’s fun to watch. How far will they go? I would be surprised to see them in the finals. But if she’s there, I’ll cheer her on! I love an underdog!
Kristi Yamaguchi & Mark Ballas
Last week was one of the toughest for Kristi. The judges were a little hard on her – probably because they expect perfection with each dance. I do, too, but I just love watching her dance. I believe it was the first time she finished in second place. I think she’ll come back strong this week. This little fireball is in it to win!
Jason Taylor & Edyta Sliwinska
Allow me to be superficial for a moment. Jason is HOT! And he’s ginormous! He & Edyta have such great chemistry. Compared to him, she sometimes looks like a little fairy dancing around Peter Pan. Is that too much? As for their dancing, these two are really impressive. When I see Jason dance, he reminds me of Emmitt Smith. He looks manly when doing dances that aren’t typically “manly.” Does that make sense? Try this: when he moves, dudes should take notes. THAT’S how a man should dance! I think it will between them and Kristi & Mark right up to the finals.
