DWTS: Top Six

Mario was in the bottom two last week, despite his dance that Carrie Ann described as “better than good sex.” Guess the dancing crowd wants Justin Timberlake to bring SexyBack, not Mario.

What’s ahead tonight? Who needs to step it up? And who can beat Kristi? My speculation after the jump…

Tonight, the teams will do two dances – no group performance. This usually means they’ll do one latin and one ballroom dance. This is a challenge for most because they can barely learn one dance, now the pressure is on to not only perform two dances, they must dance them well. Here are my rankings for the week:

Kristi Yamaguchi & Mark Ballas

These two are my favorite! They move so well together. I know, people keep saying she’s a figure skater – she should do well. When she revealed that she had a club foot growing up, that made me love her a little more. The fact that she’s been able to dance and skate is amazing. This website says she’s not the only famous person born with club feet. Unless Kristi doesn’t do a second dance, there’s no way she will take a tumble on the leader board.

Mario & Karina Smirnoff

OK. I get it. These two are H-O-T. But I think they try a little too hard sometimes. It’s like every dance has to be sexy. They’re both beautiful. They can dance. They have chemistry. I’d just like them to tone it down a bit and do some difficult dance moves (a la Kristi). If they do that, I think they could very well be in the finals.

Christian de la Fuente & Cheryl Burke

Cheryl REALLY wants a third mirror ball trophy! I wouldn’t be surprised if we don’t see Drew Lachey or Emmitt Smith pay a visit to the pair’s rehearsal to give Christian some tips on how to win this. In the last two weeks, Christian has really turned into a dancer. He’s proving that he’s not just another pretty face (and he IS pretty). I wouldn’t count him out.

Jason Taylor & Edyta Sliwinska

I don’t know if Jason is starting to get all worked up about his fate in Miami (that’s right, I follow sports, too), but he slipped a bit last week. He was starting to shine, giving Kristi reason to look over her shoulder at the big guy close behind her, but something was off last week. I really hope Jason can climb back up the leader board tonight.

Marissa Jaret Winokur & Tony Dovolani

I really like Marissa. It’s hard not to. Apparently, the studios are fond of her. She’s getting a daytime talk show (but besides yours truly, who isn’t these days?)! If Tony continues to give her some challenging steps, I think Marissa could be safe this week. Sadly, I don’t think she’ll be in the finals – unless there’s some campaign online that I haven’t found to keep her around.

Shannon Elizabeth & Derek Hough

I’m putting these two at the bottom of the list because I’m over them. They’re cute. But last week’s tearfest and rantby the pair really annoyed me. I know they apologized for that after it aired, but still. Their dance was OK. The judges aren’t being nicey-nice anymore because the people who are left in this competition are supposed to be good. If these two can’t hack the constructive criticism, they should go make smoochy faces somewhere else. (Wow, that was harsh for a Monday morning)
