DWTS: Mixed Bag
\
The show was all over the place, and I’m not just talking about the various Latin and ballroom dances. There was talk of a show-mance, one of the judges threatening to expose himself, the first perfect score of the season was awarded, a dance was compared to sex and the group dance was chaotic fun! If you haven’t seen the show, go here. If you’re ready for the recap, follow the jump!
Jason Taylor & Edyta Sliwinska
They did a cha cha. It was very nice, with a couple of missteps at the end. Bruno said it was flamboyant. Carrie Ann noted Jason’s arms look awkward when he’s apart from Edyta. Score: 24
Shannon Elizabeth & Derek Hough
They did a rumba. It was mostly pretty, though it sometimes looked like she didn’t follow through with the moves. Bruno said it was sizzling, but lacked hip action (she heard the same complaint last week). Len said they were all over each other like a rash. Then, before they got their score, Samantha grilled them about their, um, chemistry. Now, I was expecting this, as I saw a little tidbit this weekend that showed the two looking very couple-like. Derek said they were doing it for the performance. Right. Score: 24
Marlee Matlin & Fabian Sanchez
They did a mambo. I was expecting a lot more out of them, as Mario is the 2006 mambo champ. The Fonz gave Marlee a pep talk. She looked fantastic! Then, she started to dance. She looked lost quite a bit. Not being able to hear the music will do that to you. Len said it looked uncomfortable. Score: 21
Christian de la Fuente & Cheryl Burke
They did a fox trot. These two were pretty in pink, though Cheryl’s fluffy sleeves were ginormous! This was their best dance yet! Christian was going for Frederico Astaire – mission accomplished! Len said if they were in the bottom two this week, he will show his bum in the supermarket. (Please, please, please dear voters – get Christian out of danger this week) Bruno called it an unexpected treat. Score: 27
Marissa Jaret Winokur & Tony Dovolani
They did a Vienese waltz. It was lovely. Marissa looked great. I do wonder if she was supposed to change legs on the last spin they did, but it was otherwise really good. Carrie Ann said that put her on the Winokur Wave. Len said she was like a true princess. Score: 26
Kristi Yamaguchi & Mark Ballas
They did the jive. Now here’s why I heart Kristi a little more: she was born with club feet! To think she overcame that to win gold medals in the Olympics and is now consistently at the top of the leader board on this show is just amazing. So was her jive. She and Mark looked like professional dancers! It was probably the most difficult jive I’ve seen on this show. Carrie Ann gave it an H-E-Double Hockey Stick Yeah. Leno said it was like a buffet – a smorgasbord of dance. Bruno said it was top notch entertainment. Score: 30
Mario & Karina Smirnoff
They did a rumba. It was super sexy. Besides the beginning of the dance, when Karina was sitting on the judge’s table, I don’t think they danced without touching each other. I wish I could find a picture, but the best I could do is one from last week. If you didn’t catch it, Mario danced with his shirt unbuttoned and it looked like Karina was wearing a sheet – very bedroom. While Len was going on about their dance, Bruno said Len was about to get crusty and stiffy. Then, Len said he thought the dance was too raunchy. Bruno thought it was fabulous. Carrie Ann said it was better than good sex. Len and Carrie Ann caught the couple’s lift and it cost them. Score: 28
Group Dance
This was fun, like a hoedown should be! Everyone got to do tricks they can’t normally do. Mario and Jason did some fantastic lifts. It was so high energy, it made me tired. Seriously. I went to bed after watching that. I even had dancing dreams, but that’s another blog.
What to expect tonight: Marlee had the lowest score. I think she’s in great danger tonight. I think everyone else has stepped it up, so if the other stars go, I’ll be disappointed. For your entertainment tonight, Ashlee Simpson will perform. And I heard something about Riverdance.
One more thing…If you thought it was strange to see Paula Abdul in the audience (doesn’t she have her own little reality show?), there may have been a good reason why she was there. Read here for the skinny. I’ll be back later with reaction to tonight’s elimination.
